Multiple-Valued Logic Technical Committee
Message From MVL TC Chair

Dear Colleagues,

As the new chair of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Multiple-Valued Logic, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. It is a great honor for me to provide this service to the MVL community. I would like to express my thanks to Professor Takao Waho, the past TC chair as well as to all other past chairs and contributors to our technical community.

These are exciting times for the MVL community with many new and interesting results continuing to be reported in our technical meetings and journal. New computational paradigms, devices, and techniques are emerging and underscore the relevance and importance of research in multiple-valued logic.

Some of the goals of our TC for 2010 include seeking new members in our community and encouraging young researchers to consider MVL in their work. We are planning to disseminate information about TC activities in our existing web site as well as to add content to the newly revised web site administered on our behalf by the IEEE Computer Society. The Journal of Multiple-Valued Logic and Soft Computing continues to be an important outlet for documenting MVL research results. Another goal is to increase industrial collaboration and to seek new corporate sponsorships for MVL awards and technical meetings. Our work in the area of MVL is applicable to many other technical areas in science and engineering and should help to attract more support and participation in our technical committee.

In closing, I would like to express my gratitude for your support in my role as TC chair. I encourage you to contact me with any news or concerns you have regarding TC activities. I look forward to representing the TC and its' interests in the IEEE Computer Society.

Best Regards,
Mitch Thornton
