Message From MVL TC Chair

This is my first message as chair of the MVL-TC. I would like to thank you for giving me an opportunity to serve in this capacity. It is a great honour for me. Many thanks to the past chair, Prof. Mitchell Thornton, for his great job during the last two years.

ISMVL is the major event in the MVL community, and its date is drawing closer. I would like to invite your to come to Victoria to participate in this event. This year's program committee has put together a very attractive program, please see http://ismvl.cs.uvic.ca/. There will be two invited presentations, one related to quantum computing and another one honouring the contributions of Ivo G. Rosenberg to MVL community. It has been a tradition to host the Workshop on Post-Binary Ultra-large-Scale Integration Systems in conjunction with ISMVL. This year is no exception, the workshop will be held on May 13, 2012. Please plan to arrive early and participate in this event. Registration is free.

Some of the goals of our TC for 2012 include seeking new members in our community and encouraging young researchers to use MVL in their work. We are planning to disseminate information about TC activities in our existing web site as well as to add content to the newly revised web site administered on our behalf by the IEEE Computer Society. The Journal of Multiple-Valued Logic and Soft Computing continues to be an important media for documenting MVL research results. Another goal is to increase industrial collaboration and to seek new corporate sponsorships for MVL awards and technical meetings.

Please send me your suggestions on how to make the work of the MVL technical committee more effective.

I am looking forward to see you in Victoria in May.
