ISMVL-2003 was very successful. There were 105 attendees and 54 papers. This annual the symposium was held at the Liberty Tower of Meiji University, Tokyo Japan.

The multiple-valued community is indebted to the Organization Committee of ISMVL-2003 chaired by Professor Masao Mukaidono.

During the banquet, the Outstanding Contribution Award for ISMVL-2002 was given to H. Machida, I. G. Rosenberg, and M. Miyakawa, for "Some Results on Centralizers of Monoids in Clone Theory."

Two Paper Awards for ISMVL-2003 were also announced. They are T. Sasao," A Cascade Realization of Two-Valued Input Multiple-Valued Output Functions Using Decomposition of Group Functions," and H. Inokawa and Y. Takahashi, "Experimental and Simulation Studies of Single-Electron-Transistor-Based Multiple-Valued Logic."

Professor Tatsuo Higuchi of Tohoku Institute of Technology, Sendai, Japan received the Certificate of Appreciation of the IEEE Computer Society for the continued contributions to ISMVL.

In conjunction with this symposium, the International Workshop on Post-Binary ULSI Systems was held on May 16.

We will elect a new TC Chair for 2003/2004. All MVL-TC members of Computer Society are entitled to one vote. Please watch for the announcement of the election.
