This year symposium was held in a brand new building of the University of Freiburg. Everyone enjoyed the warm hospitality of our hosts. The combination of a strong technical program and opportunities to interact socially make these events both productive and enjoyable, and this year was no exception. All events were well attended. The rigorous refereeing process ensures the quality of the contributions.

This issue of our bulletin contains some important information. Please take a few minutes to read it carefully. First take a look at the election page. We have to elect a new TC Chair for the years 2000/2001. All members of the MVL-TC are entitled to one vote. I encourage you to vote now, it will be easy to forget it later. The minutes of the last plenary session are enclosed. They contain information about the election and future symposia. The issue of tutorials came up several times during our last meeting. A summary of my thoughts is listed in this issue.
